Cytyc Surgical Products will assist hospitals and physicians in working with third-party payers to secure appropriate coverage for procedures utilizing the GliaSite Radiation Therapy System (RTS).

Both commercial payers and Medicare intermediaries apply their own interpretation relating to coverage for devices and related hospital and physician services. Insurers generally cover medically necessary procedures when they are performed for the appropriate indications.

Radiation delivery via brachytherapy is an accepted treatment option following surgery for brain cancer. Because coverage decisions vary across payers, providers should be prepared to supply evidence that the GliaSite RTS treatment is appropriate for the specified clinical condition. Cytyc Surgical Products can supply the appropriate clinical data on the GliaSite RTS and other modes of brachytherapy, as well as reprints of medical journal articles, to assist providers if the need arises.
